An entrepreneur is somebody who has a new business idea, which he or she turns into a business. Entrepreneurs are often considered ‘risk-takers’ because they create products and services that haven’t been tried before.

What does an Entrepreneur do?

An entrepreneur will normally:

  • Have an idea for a new business and make it happen!
  • Put together a team of people to create and run the business 
  • Sell the business once it gets to a certain size and then start a new business – if they’re a serial entrepreneur
  • Create a business that tries to address, or solve, a societal problem – if they’re a social entrepreneur

How to become an Entrepreneur

You don’t really need any specific qualifications to become an entrepreneur, but a GCSE or A-level in business studies might help. You could also do a degree in business studies, and to do that you’ll need to check with the university for entry requirements.
