Founded: 1929

Universal Music UK is home to a number of different record labels representing some of the best artists around. These labels include Capitol, Decca, Fiction, Island, Polydor and Virgin EMI. We also have a thriving catalogue label and divisions handling brand partnerships, TV production and merchandise. Since last year we have owned the most famous music studio in the world – Abbey Road Studios in London.

We’re involved in every single stage of the recording process – from discovering new artists to recording an album, promoting it and then distributing it.

Some of the big names we've signed in recent years include Florence + The Machine, Mumford & Sons, Elbow, Ellie Goulding and Lana Del Rey. But while we love discovering and signing new talent, we also make sure that music by legends like Elton John and the Rolling Stones continue to be heard for generations to come. We also release the music of global superstars such as Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Eminem.

We are the UK division of Universal Music Group,  the biggest music company in the world with offices in more than 60 different countries.
